Make sure you add lots of hairspray as you go along:

So, what type of hairstyle is this, or would someone simply walk into a salon and say "i'd like to get the emo girl hairstlye"?
it is a scene hairstyle, if you go to a salon that specialises in edgy cuts the should be able to do it, otherwise take a photo with you

you shouldnt go to a hair stylist and say 'i want scene hair'. you should say that you want disconnected layers. :)
